The SYRIZA parliamentary spokesperson Panagiotis Lafazanis suggested that Greece takes “a major initiative and fight for the deletion, without any conditions, of the greater part of the debt”. He accused Prime Antonis Samaras that his did not raise the issue at his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“Even sadder is the fact that Antonis Samaras did not feel the need to put to Angela Merkel the issue of the occupation loan”, said Panagiotis Lafazanis in his statements in the newspaper “Sunday’s Choni”. He stressed that “lenders require from Greece every single euro and we do not dare ask acknowledged debts to our country, worth tens of billions euros”.
“Greece needs to take a major initiative to fight for the unconditional deletion of the largest, at least part of the debt. The public debt is suffocating Greece, and private indebtedness has basically led the greek households to bankruptcy. The massive debt is not treated by lowering interest rates and lengthening its repayment time”, said the parliamentary spokesperson of SYRIZA.
