Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has arrived in New York, in order to attend the UN Climate Summit and the operations of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
The prime minister will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Stelios Petsas, Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion Kostas Fragogiannis, and by Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of Greeks abroad Antonis Diamandaris.
The prime minister’s program, which begins on Monday, is as follows:
– On Monday, September 23, the Prime Minister will address the UN Climate Summit. On the same day, he will attend the event of the presidents of France, Colombia and Chile on the issue of deforestation in the wake of the Amazon fires.
– On Tuesday, September 24, he will attend the inauguration of the 74th UN General Assembly (GATT) and will also be present at the International Advisory Board (IAB) meeting of the Atlantic Council. On the same day, Mr. Mitsotakis will appear at a Goldman Sachs event, where investors will be present.
– On Wednesday, September 25, the Prime Minister will attend the Bloomberg Global Business Forum. Mr. Mitsotakis will also attend a lunch hosted by US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross in the presence of investors. On the same evening, he will deliver a speech at an event by the Greek community of Astoria.
– On Thursday, September 26, the Prime Minister will meet with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and will be the keynote speaker at the event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations.
-On Friday, September 27, the Prime Minister will address the plenary of the 74th UN General Assembly.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to meet with other leaders including US President Donald Trump (24/9), Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (25/9), Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison (24/9) and Indian Narendra Modi (26/9).
Mitsotakis will also have contacts with Edi Rama (23/9) and Zoran Zaev (24/9), as well as with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic (23/9), Kosovo’s President Hashim Thaci (23/9) and with the President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili (24/9).
Bilateral contacts between the Prime Minister and the Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez (23/9), the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas (23/9) and the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan (24/9) are also expected to take place.
It is noted that Mr. Mitsotakis has already agreed to meet with the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades (26/9). On the same day he will meet with representatives from Jewish organizations.
