President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and Foreign Minister, Behgjet Pacolli have travelled to New York to participate in the annual session of the UN General Assembly.
The president of Kosovo declared that he and the head of the country’s diplomacy will hold meetings with world leaders in order to push Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic agenda forward and secure more recognitions of the country’s independence.
During his stay in the US, president Thaci will also attend the annual reception of the US president Donald Trump and First Lady Melanie Trump.
IBNA learns that on the sidelines of this session, there will also be a meeting between president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and his Serb counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic.
The meeting will be assisted by US senior officials, but it will also be attended by the EU head of diplomacy, Federica Mogherini.
After the deal that was reached between FYROM and Greece regarding the issue of the name, the international community has intensified its efforts to reach a peaceful agreement between Pristina and Belgrade.
Kosovo’s leadership is demanding mutual recognition, while the Serb authorities are demanding compromise, which does not rule out territorial exchanges.
Meanwhile, attending in the UN’s General Assembly will also be the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj. /ibna/
