Speaker of the parliament of Kosovo, Jakup Krasniqi says that he’s ready to offer his resignation from his post at the end of this month, as he’s planning to form a new political party.

This new party will be led by Fatmir Limaj and Jakup Krasniqi who are the main actors of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.

“We will form a new political subject which doesn’t relate to specific individuals, but with the political and economic program that the country needs. Each individual has his role”, declared Mr. Krasniqi today (21.02).

“We cannot say what  the impact will be, but we want people to join the program and not individuals, because we have seen throughout these years how  political parties that are identified with people end up”, said Krasniqi.

Krasniqi also said that he’s also reviewing his current position as speaker of the parliament of Kosovo.

The speaker of parliament declared that his actions will be in the best interest of the country and as a result, he’s seriously thinking to resign.

He said that his resignation depends on current and future circumstances.

“If I resign, I’m willing to pass over my post to the biggest political party in the parliament of Kosovo. I don’t want my resignation to cause an institutional crisis in the Republic of Kosovo, but this doesn’t depend on me, but on the parliamentary political parties”, said he.

Krasniqi said that once he moves into the new party, his resignation is also sanctioned by the Constitution, because the speaker of parliament must belong to the biggest political party in the country. /ibna/
