European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) has excluded Kosovo’s Accreditation Agency as a result of the decision of PM Ramush Haradinaj to discharge this agency’s board of directors.
This decision has mostly affected students from Kosovo, because their degrees may not be recognized by EU member countries.
The minister of Education, Science and Technology, Shyqiri Bytyqi said that removal of the board has been done due to serious irregularities in the process of accreditation of private and public institutions of higher education.
Meanwhile, EQAR has expressed its concern about “insufficient reasons” behind the decision of the Ministry of Education for the discharges in question.
LDK’s parliamentary group has submitted a motion to parliament for an extraordinary session to take place concerning what this party considers as arbitrary and unlawful decisions of the government, which have led to the exclusion of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency from EQAR.
The head of LDK’s parliamentary group, Avdullah Hoti said that the government of Kosovo must act fast to remedy this problem. /balkaneu.com/
