Kosovo won’t discuss territory swaps with Serbia, says Hoxhaj

Outgoing deputy prime minister and candidate of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) running for parliament on 6 October elections, Enver Hoxhaj, said dialogue with Serbia is of a strategic importance for Kosovo.

“If we want to conclude the state-building process we think that this is achievable through dialogue with the United States support. We should increase the number of recognitions and membership into international organisations”, Hoxhaj said in an interview with lajmi.net. He says dialogue with Serbia should be in compliance with Kosovo Constitution.

“We will not discuss with Serbia topics such as state territory, sovereignty, independence and our constitutional rule”, Hoxhaj stated. He said that topics which needs to be addressed during the dialogue with Belgrade are Serbia’s crimes committed in Kosovo, the fate of the missing persons and economic cooperation.

When commenting on the 100 percent tax hike on Serbian imports introduced by Kosovo Government last year, Hoxhaj said that this is a provisional measure and in order to resume the dialogue the tariffs need to be revoked./ibna
