Kosovo becomes a UEFA member

Kosovo has been accepted as a member of UEFA. The decision has been taken today in the general congress held today in Budapest, Hungary. Kosovo was accepted in the European football government after receiving 28 votes in favor.

UEFA’s accession enables teams from Kosovo to participate in European races and gives way to Kosovo’s accession in FIFA.

For the first time, the head of the Kosovo Football Association, Fadil Vokrri has addressed to UEFA members in a position of equality.

“This is a historical moment and I promise that I will uphold the values of football. We want to join people inside and outside of the football field”, Vokrri said.

Today’s success has been praised by Kosovo leaders.

PM Mustafa said that Kosovo is going through a period of extraordinary successes. He is also expecting Kosovo to soon become a member of FIFA.

“I feel very happy and proud that our country just achieved another historical success. As of today, Kosovo’s football is part of the European football family, UEFA. Our country will soon become part of FIFA”, Mustafa declared.

President Hashim Thaci has written that “Kosovo a member of UEFA” is the best possible news for the fans.

“We will now play in international championships. We will win and lose matches, but they will never stop us in the green field”, Thaci said.

Kosovo’s application for UEFA membership was delivered in March last year. /balkaneu.com/
