Kosovo: Zero tolerance in the fight against sexual violence

“It is quite concerning when one hears the number of cases of sexual violence”. This was how the minister of Justice, Dhurata Hoxha in the conference dubbed: “Investigation of sexual violence based on gender-Challenges and possibilities for coordination” organized by EULEX mission in Kosovo.

“Sexual violence is a violation of human rights and it can only be fought through the cooperation of relevant actors. We’re committed for zero tolerance against sexual violence and gender based violence”, minister Hoxha said.

During this conference, minister Hoxha has thanked EULEX and domestic institutions for their engagement in an efficient use of forensic techniques during the investigation of cases of sexual violence.

Hoxha said that upon the proposal of the Ministry of Justice, the government has appointed the “Committee for compensation of victims of crime”.

“The Ministry of Justice, in cooperation with other institutions remains committed for the creation and the strengthening of legal mechanisms with the aim of defending human rights, especially the rights of women”, said minister Hoxha. /balkaneu.com/
