Kosovar Health Minister Arben Vitia, during Saturday’s emergency press conference announced a third confirmed case of COVID-19. According to the Minister, the last patient is a relative of the 77-year-old man who was tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.
The patient is reported to have been admitted to the Pristina Central Hospital and has limited contact with the community. Following the confirmation of two outbreaks on Friday, the Kosovar authorities adopted emergency measures and quarantined the municipalities of Vitia and Klina, where the first two outbreaks occurred. Both cases involved recent visits to Italy.
The Kosovo government held an emergency meeting late Friday and took additional restrictive measures to curb the spread of the pandemic, including the suspension of public transportation, the closure of borders, the lock down of all cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as the suspension of cultural and sporting events. /ibna
