The court of Pristina released on Friday the imam of the Kosovo Islamic Communion, Shefqet Krasniqi.
In February 2017, Kosovo’s special prosecution had indicted the former imam of the Great Mosque of Pristina, Shefqet Krasniqi on charges of “inciting terrorist acts, hate and divides”.
On Friday, the court said that t here was no evidence which could prove these charges, thus releasing Mrs. Krasniqi.
The former imam of the Great Mosque of Pristina, was taken in by police in September 2014, during an operation for the arrest of suspects who had been involved in conflicts in Syria and Iraq.
Imam Shefqet Krasniqi has been a controversial figure due to his public speeches in favor of radicalism and his name has also been mentioned in the US State Department’s report concerning religious freedom in the world. /balkaneu.com/
