Kosovo is looking into the possibility of suing Serbia for genocide committed during the war period in 1998-1999.
Sources from the Ministry of Justice say that this will be done in consultation with domestic and international experts.
The press office in this ministry says that this procedure will be initiated in coordination with other institutions, without offering any details as to what has been done so far about this.
The motion will be prepared based on data collected since 2011 by the Institute for Research on War Crimes although it is not officially known what are the damages that Serbia has caused to Kosovo.
President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci says that what’s vital for Serbia and Kosovo is the issue of missing people, for which both sides are working.
“We must not accuse each other, but each side must assume responsibility. Kosovo will soon open before International Court of Justice the chapter on justice for the genocide committed during the time of Slobodan Milosevic. Kosovo has been well prepared on that”, Kosovo’s president says.
Meanwhile politician and one of the founders of KLA, Bardhyl Mahumit says that through different methods, Kosovo is trying to hide its genocide.
“Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of Genicode defines the acts that fall into this category of crime. Analyzing this convention, which is the foundation of International Criminal Justice, Kosovo has definitely suffered a genocide”, Mahumit says. /balkaneu.com/
