Relations between Kosovo and Serbia continue to be tense, but the presidents of both countries continue to hope on a compromise.
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic declared that Serbia is ready for compromise with the Albanian side, in order to find a solution on this difficult and rather delicate matter.
“To us, Serbs, relations between Serbia and Kosovo is a big problem, because we care about the future of the country and we want these kinds of issues to be solved once and for all”, declared Vucic in the meeting that he held with David McCalister, European Parliament rapporteur on Serbia.
Furthermore, Vucic said that Serbia is ready for talks with Albanians at any time in order to reach a deal.
On the other hand, president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci has declared that dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia will be finalized with Kosovo’s accession in the UN.
He has also expressed his conviction that this year will mark a historical agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.
“The agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which I believe will be signed in 2018, will be a historical agreement, which will result with Kosovo’s accession in the UN”, he added.
Meanwhile, in the month of June, a new round of talks is expected to kick off in June and its aim is to achieve a full normalization of relations between the two countries. /ibna/
