Economic cooperation is the best alternative for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
This was said by the representatives of Kosovo and Serbia’s chambers of commerce, Safet Gerxhaliu and Marko Cadez.
According to them, politics is part of the problem, when it comes to relations between the two countries, while the business has advanced more than politics.
The head of Serbia’s Chamber of Commerce, Marko Cadez says that along with their partners from Kosovo, they are working to remove economic barriers in economy.
“Dialogue between the two chambers has started as part of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. First of all, we have determined what these chambers can do and what we can do. At the same time, we have prepared our solutions in order to facilitate business. The idea since the beginning was to identify the problems that businesses face in Kosovo and Serbia in order to react and prevent then through the institutions”, he said in the economic fair being held in Pristina, where around 30 companies from Serbia are participating.
Cadez said that Kosovo market is very important for Serb businesses.
“This is a natural market. In 2015, commercial exchange amounted to 415 million euros. Out of them, Serbia has exported to Kosovo goods amounting to 390 million euros. These figures show that this is an important market”, he said.
His counterpart from Kosovo, Safet Gerxhaliu says that economic cooperation between the two countries is positive.
“The biggest problem in the Balkans is that good news is never presented as good news. Politics plays its role in causing obstacles. But we must be open and thank businesses, because they’re helping economic cooperation between Kosovo and Serbia to be 100 steps ahead of politics”, Gerxhaliu said. /balkaneu.com/
