MEP Doris Pack declared today that Kosovo must be removed from the Constitution of Serbia.
“The preamble in the Constitution of Kosovo, which says that Kosovo is part of its territory, not only it’s not in line with the development of good neighboring relations in the region, but it also goes against the accession of Serbia in the European Union”, Pack declared.
Pack stressed that the Serb leadership must work before EU accession in order to solve bilateral issues with neighboring countries.
“Everyone knows that until Serbia becomes part of the European Union, it must have resolved relations with neighboring countries. Therefore, I’m convinced that there must be an amendment in the Constitution of Serbia, if this doesn’t happen now”.
Pack said that it’s not yet time for Serbia to adhere to the European Union, but according to her, the issue of the removal of the preamble must be raised at the end of the talks with the European Union and Serb authorities must address this issue.
Meanwhile, the members of the action team in the Parliament of Serbia for the reformation of the political system, have said that Kosovo’s definition in the Constitution will not be removed or amended upon constitutional amendments. /ibna/
