Kosovo Agency of Statistics has published today the full results of the Registration of Agriculture in the Republic of Kosovo, which was held from 1 to 20 November 2014.
Registration of agriculture has taken place in 34 communes of Kosovo. Meanwhile, in four communes in the north, Leposavic, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Northern Mitrovica, registration has not taken place, because these communes refused to participate.
Christopher Stock, head of the EU Cooperation Office in Kosovo, said that the registration data create the basis for comparison with other countries.
He said that having accurate data is very important for any policy making, as they offer a framework for good governing, enabling governments to plan based on the information received in a transparent way.
“Given the European orientation of the government of Kosovo, we are sure that it will exploit these data to plan better policies and offer better services for the citizens of Kosovo in harmony with the agenda for Stabilization and Association”, Stock said.
The head of Kosovo Agency of Statistics, Isa Krasniqi said that registration of agriculture is the only means to create a sample framework for other agricultural surveys.
Deputy minister of Agriculture, Forests and Rural Development, Vezir Jonuzi said that this is, without any doubt, one of the most important moments for agriculture, one which opens a new phase toward further development of this sector, which is without any doubt, one of the engines of economic development and employment. /ibna/
