Kosovo is an example in the region as to how a multicultural society should be built, where everyone will cultivate his identity and culture.
This is how president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci started his speech in the meeting with the members of the Consultative Committee for Communities.
“A decade and a half ago we were a country which had just started to recover from discrimination and cross ethnic war. It’s been less than a decade that we’re an independent state, but during these years, we have done more than any country in the region in building our state”, Thaci said.
He said that this has been no easy journey, because the transformations that have taken place have been great.
“In the negotiations to build the state of Kosovo, we showed political maturity and vision, by accepting provisions which accommodated all communities. We have built mechanisms to encourage the participation of all communities, in spite of their number, in the public and institutional life. Mechanisms to preserve and promote their identity”, Thaci said.
The president added that institutions have laid strong foundations, but that there is still a lot to do. /balkaneu.com/
