Minister of European Integration, Bekim Collaku has received today in a meeting the head of the Political Department at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, ambassador Jan Kickert, to discuss the latest developments in Kosovo.
Minister Collaku has briefed ambassador Kicket on the steps that the institutions of Kosovo have taken in order to meet the criteria for the liberalization of visas, saying that within this year, the country is expecting to receive a positive recommendation from the European Commission in relation to this process.
Collaku also said that Kosovo is ready to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement as soon as possible and start its implementation in 2016.
Furthermore, the two interlocutors have also talked about the preparations ahead of the Vienna Summit which is held on 27-29 August, where the countries of Western Balkan will address to the EU with joint regional projects, which is expected to be funded by the EU.
As far as this issue is concerned, Collaku told Kickert that Kosovo, in coordination with other countries of Western Balkan, is ready to present national infrastructural projects which also have a regional character.
Meanwhile, the political director at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, ambassador Jan Kickert, said that Austria strongly supports Kosovo for the signature of SAA and the finalization of the visa liberalization process.
Kickert also stressed the importance of regional cooperation, expressing his conviction that the Vienna Summit will act as a platform to confirm the strengthening of collaboration through infrastructural projects which will have an impact in the social economic development of Western Balkan countries.
The ambassador also said that the evaluating mission for the criteria of the visa liberalization, which was in Kosovo, left encouraged in the implementation of the technical criteria, confirming Austria’s support for the finalization of this process. /ibna/
