Institutions of Kosovo are getting ready for 17 February, which marks Independence Day. Government of Kosovo has organized a number of activities in the communes of Kosovo, including the capital, Pristina.
The celebrations will start with a solemn session in the Parliament of Kosovo, followed by the parade of the Kosovo Security Force and police of Kosovo in “Zahir Pajaziti” square.
Homage will take place in front of the grave of former president Ibrahim Rugova.
President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, demanded today from the opposition, which has announced a massive protest tomorrow, to be careful in order not to ruin the independence.
“I would like to see a peaceful protest, because tomorrow is a big day for Kosovo and a sacred day for all the citizens. We must not ruin this day”, Jahjaga said.
Kosovo police spokesman, Daut Hoxha, says that police will insure all security measures during these celebrations.
“Kosovo Police has mobilized all of its capacities to guarantee order during the celebrations of the Independence of Kosovo”, Hoxha declared.
On the other hand, opposition parties, Self Determination, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and Incentive for Kosovo have announced a protest tomorrow, which will start at 2 pm, to demand the resignation of the government of the country. /ibna/
