Kosovo passes the bill on the fight and financing of terrorism

Parliament of Kosovo passed today the bill for the prevention of money laundering and the fight and financing of terrorism.

Minister of Finance, Avdullah Hoti has presented the bill and said that the fight against terrorism is closely linked to the program of the government of Kosovo 2015-2018.

According to him, this bill meets the objectives of the government to prevent and fight terrorism and to collaborate with all countries in fighting this phenomenon.

“This program foresees the application of a pro-active approach for international cooperation in preventing money laundering, the funding of terrorism and other financial crimes and the development of a national legislation in line with international standards”, he said.

Minister Hoti said that better cooperation with police and prosecution is vital.

Meanwhile, LDK’s MP, Naser Osmani said that the advancement of the legal framework for the approval of this bill relates to the requirements stemming from the Stabilization and Association Agreement.

Safete Hadergjonaj from PDK’s parliamentary group said that the amendment of the bill has been done to prevent any obstacles in the fight against terrorism and to prevent abuses of the financial market for purposes of funding terrorism. /balkaneu.com/
