Kosovo has marked a historical success in the domain of sport. World football government-FIFA has accepted Kosovo’s football as an equal member of this organization.

In the 66th FIFA congress in Mexico, 141 out of 205 members of FIFA voted in favor of Kosovo.

Fadil Vokrri, the head of the Kosovo Football Association, declared that Kosovo will be committed to embrace the values of this organization.

“Football players of my country have long waited this decision to come, in order to become part of the football family. The accession in this organization is very important for youth and our football talents. Committed for the FIFA values, we will immediately start our preparations for international competitions”, Vokrri declared.

Bilbil Sokoli, football coach and professor at the University of Pristina, says that Kosovo must be seriously committed to meet the conditions and standards required by FIFA.

“In this aspect, we have much to do. We must immediately start to improve infrastructure in the domain of football, to train professional referees and create professional football schools for young talents”, Sokoli said.

According to him, the achievements of football standards cannot be achieved without the help of state institutions.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci was the first one who promised the construction of a modern stadium in Pristina.

“After the accession in the UEFA and FIFA, Kosovo needs a decent location to hold international matches. We will do everything we can to start the construction of a new stadium in the capital with a capacity of 30 thousand seats. This is the only way that UEFA and FIFA accession are meaningful”, the president of the country said.

FIFA, which has 210 members from all around the world, holds the World Cup every four years. This accession will give way to Kosovo national team to participate in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers which start in September. /balkaneu.com/
