Although its independence has been recognized by 116 countries, Kosovo could not manage to become a member of Interpol.
Analysts in Pristina say that this failure has come as a result of the fact that Serbia has lobbied against the recognition of the independence of Kosovo.
Yesterday, 56 countries voted against Kosovo’s accession in Dubai and eight of them were countries which had recognized its independence.
Guinea has recognized Kosovo since 2011, while today, it was part of those countries which voted against Kosovo’s membership at Interpol.
Among the countries which voted against was also Granada, a country which had recognized Kosovo in September 2013.
Solomon Islands have also recognized Kosovo, while in the voting, they ranked themselves alongside the countries which were against the accession.
Meanwhile, other countries which have already recognized Kosovo’s independence, while voting against its accession at Interpol, was Malaysia and Dominican Republic. /ibna/
