Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, in an interview with KTV stated that Kosovo President Hashim Thaci was not satisfied with the powers granted to him by the country’s Constitution and called on him to return to party politics.
“He urged police officers not to respect the Government’s decision. However, the police followed the Government’s orders and the measures went ahead as they could not oppose the Government’s decision”, Kurti said, adding that “the president is not satisfied with the powers vested in him by the Constitution”.
“He must return to politics. The President’s role as dictated by the democratic system is ceremonial and more of a consultative nature. He should not show which political entity he supports. Therefore, he does not indicate which government should be voted on. That means that either the constitution must be changed, something that has yet to happen, or he must engage in the party politics we are practicing. We will have fairer and sounder competition there”, Kurti concluded. /ibna
