The first two coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Kosovo, according to a joint press conference by Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Health Minister Arben Vitia. The patients are a 22-year-old Italian woman working for a humanitarian organization, who arrived from Italy five days ago, and a 77-year-old Kosovar man who had returned from Italy on March 5th.
According to the Minister, the clinical condition of both is stable. The tracking process for the two cases has already begun. In addition, those who came in contact with the two patients have been placed in quarantine, and their progress is being monitored. So far, 15 people have been tested.
On Wednesday, Kosovo closed all schools and banned public gatherings until March 27, 2020.
Infrastructure Minister Lumir Abdixhiku suspended flights from Italy, France, Switzerland and Germany on Friday, while Albania closed its border crossings with Kosovo. /ibna
