Kosovo films to be shown in a film festival in Cologne

Two short films from Kosovo, “Friend” and “Column”, which tell true stories from the last war in Kosovo, will be shown in Cologne, Germany.

They will be shown on 22 October in the framework of the short film festival “URACult”.

This festival will also see the participation of the films “The Wedding Tape”, “Death by Suffocation”, “The Conversation” and “The Capsule”.

“Friend” directed by Jamie Donoughe, entered the cinematographic history of the country, becoming the first film from Kosovo which was nominated for an Oscar.

As many other films, this film is based on true events and takes place during the war in Kosovo, when the country was under Serb occupation. The film shows how the friendship between two friends is put to the test, while they fight to survive.

On the other hand, “Column” directed by Ujkan Hysaj is the a story which points out the consequences of the war.

“Column” has been awarded as the best foreign film in the 10th edition of the “Sian International Film Festival” in Seoul, South Korea. This film also managed to convince the public in the 28th edition of the International Film Festival held in Warsaw, Poland. There, it was given the public’s award. /balkaneu.com/
