Citizens of Kosovo are still waiting for European institutions to decide on the visa liberalisation process.
The EU office to Pristina says that there’s not yet a deadline regarding the decision to scrap the visa regime. EU officials have stressed that authorities in Kosovo should continue to work hard on cases relating to the fight against corruption before a final decision on this process is taken.
Authorities in Kosovo are expecting for this decision to be taken this year. However, this decision is still on halt due to the hesitation of several members of the union.
During the last meeting held by the ambassadors of the EU member countries known as COREPE, 12 out of 13 members are still hesitating to take such decision.
According to experts of integration, if the decision for the liberalisation of visas is not taken this year, then the decision may be postponed to 2020 due to the fact that Romania will take over the EU’s rotating presidency in January and this country has not recognized Kosovo’s independence. /ibna/
