Kosovo demands accession at EUROPOL and INTERPOL

Minister of Interior of Kosovo, Skender Hyseni is staying in St.Polten, Austria where he’s participating in the Ministerial Conference of the Salzburg Forum organized by the Interior Ministry of Austria over issues of migration, asylum, security and police cooperation and also fight against terrorism.  Hyseni also participated in the 13th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Convention of Police Cooperation for Southeast Europe, hosted by the Hungarian Interior minister.

In both meetings, minister Hyseni talked about the problems with migration in the recent months in Kosovo and then the importance for an added police cooperation between police of Kosovo and regional and international mechanisms.

Minister Hyseni has taken advantage of this conference to talk with the general secretary of INTERPOL, Jurgen Stock and EUROPOL director, Mr. Rob Wainwright.

In a short meeting with the EUROPOL director, minister Hyseni reiterated the need to advance cooperation between Kosovo police and EUROPL and demanded for EUROPOL to sign cooperation agreements with Kosovo like it does with other countries of Western Balkan.

Meanwhile, in a short meeting with the general secretary of INTERPOL, minister Hyseni asked for Kosovo’s application to become a member of INTERPOL to be discussed in the next meeting of the Executive Committee. /ibna/
