The Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) has announced that it will issue a decision tomorrow on the objections it has received from political parties against the Central Election Commission’s decision not to certify political parties and candidates.
“ECAP will inform you as soon as possible of the decisions it will take on appeals lodged by political entities against the Central Election Commission’s decision not to certify political entities and candidates. The deadline for reviewing and deciding on these appeals is 72 hours from the time the parties submit these appeals to ECAP, which means that decisions will be taken by tomorrow, 26 January 2021”, ECAP notes in a statement.
On the other hand, the Central Election Commission states that it will act in accordance with the decisions of the Electoral Complaints and Appeals Committee and the Supreme Court, regarding the objections of the political entities for the non-certification of their list of candidates.
This was announced by the representative of the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi in a statement to KosovaPress.
“The Central Election Commission (CEC) is awaiting the ECAP review and decision on the objections submitted to this body. As we have already announced, the CEC will act in accordance with the decisions of ECAP and the Supreme Court”, Elezi clarified.
The Central Election Commission on Friday did not certify the lists of candidates for MPs in the list of the Vetendvendosje Movement, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, the Social Democratic Initiative and many other non-majority parties.
These parties submitted their objections to ECAP on Saturday./ibna
