With the latest agreement in Brussels, Kosovo and Serbia have agreed for Kosovo to have its country telephone code (+383 or +384), while it was also agreed for Serbia to have a legal mobile operator in Kosovo.
Minister for Dialogue at the government of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri, declared that the fact that Kosovo was given a country code is very important.
“Kosovo will have a unique code like any other country, in contrast to the situation so far, where several codes have been used. It was also agreed for the operators of both countries to collaborate in the domain of interconnection and roaming with the aim of lowering charges for consumers of both countries”, she said.
Tahiri also declared that part of the agreement was also the temporary introduction of a new telephone company in Kosovo, which will operate in a restricted way.
The final agreement which is expected to be finalized in the next meeting between the two prime ministers, is also expected to remove all illegal operators that have operated in Kosovo in the domain of telecommunication.
At the end of the meeting, the sides agreed on meeting again in Brussels on 22 June 2015. /ibna/
