Minister for European Integration, Mr. Bekim Collaku, held a meeting today with the representative of the German Ministry for Cooperation and Economic Development, Mr. Dirk Schtattschneider.
Minister Collaku thanked Mr. Schtattschneider for the support given by Germany for Kosovo’s economic development and expressed his gratitude for the continuation of this support in the future through the Framework Agreement for Cooperation and Development.
During this meeting, minister Collaku said that the two priorities of the ministry that he chairs are the signing of the Stability and Association Agreement and the process of the liberalization of visas.
As far as SAA is concerned, he said that this agreement is soon expected to be signed and to take effect at the start of next year. As far as the process of the liberalization of visas is concerned, he said that Kosovo is in the final stage of delivering the last recommendations and once this happens, Kosovo is expecting Brussels to acknowledge these achievements and reward the citizens of Kosovo.
The two interlocutors also discussed on the issue of illegal emigration and the large number of asylum seekers from Kosovo, especially at the end of last year and beginning of this year. The minister said that this can be tackled by improving the social and economic situation and the creation of new jobs.
He also said that the government of Kosovo will continue with its information campaign for the prevention of illegal migration. /ibna/
