Albanians in Kosovo are celebrating this Friday November 28-the National Day, which marks the 102nd anniversary of the Proclamation of Albania’s Independence.
Pristina has been decorated with national flags and other red symbols, while representatives of political parties and the citizens have paid homage to honor those who fell for freedom and independence.
Kosovo state leaders and other leaders of political parties have sent their wishes on the National Day, while cultural activities are expected to be held in the afternoon in many cities.
Acting PM, Hashim Thaci has sent his wishes to Albanians on the National Day.
“Today, our fellow Albanians wherever they live, celebrate a big historical event, the National Day, Albania’s Independence Day. This event has inspired and largely cultivated the feeling and idea of freedom for many years in a row even in those lands which were left out of Albania on November 28, 2012. Albania today celebrates the 102nd day of independence being in its best political, diplomatic position and with a clear European perspective. To all Albanian citizens wherever they live, I’d like to wish a happy National Day”, said Thaci.
For Kosovo, November 28 is also the birthday of the legendary commander Adem Jashari and the day when Kosovo Liberation Army was born.
This festive atmosphere is not only heard in Albanian lands, but also in many western cities where Albanians live, where they have displayed red and black symbols. /ibna/
