Kosovo calls on EU to grant the country freedom of movement

Kosovo marks Europe Day today, but it is the only country in the region, the citizens of which are unable to move freely in EU member countries.

On this day, leaders in Kosovo have called on EU member countries to acknowledge Kosovo’s achievements and not keep the citizens of this country isolated.

Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said that Kosovo marks Europe Day today, because it’s part of the geography, ideology and identity of the European family.

“I call on EU member states and EU institutions to acknowledge Kosovo’s achievements and not keep citizens of this country away from the family they belong to”, PM Ramush Haradinaj said.

Kosovo’s president, Hashim Thaci has also called on the European Union to grant visa liberalization to Kosovo. He said that Kosovo has delivered all the criteria, but according to him, discrimination continues.

“Kosovars are more European than many other nations who are part of the European family. We have delivered all the criteria, but our citizens continue to discriminate. This sort of discrimination is also compromising the values of the European Union itself”, the president said. /ibna/
