Albania’s ambassador to Kosovo, Qemal Minxhozi received today in a meeting representatives of businesses in Kosovo, who offered donations for areas affected by the recent floods in Albania.
Representatives of different companies in Kosovo responded today to the need for aid that Albania has in these flooded areas. Businesses offered thousands of Euros in donation.
Ambassador Minxhozi told businesses that the aids must be in goods and not money, while if money is given, it will be immediately converted into goods.
Meanwhile, head of the Kosovo Business Alliance, Agim Shahini said that something must be done, because Albania opened its doors for Kosovo in 1999.
He called on everyone to offer as much as possible.
“I invite Presevo Valley, the Albanian part of Macedonia and Montenegro, but also businesses in Albania to be generous”, said Shahini.
Ten lorries filled with foods for people and animals will leave tomorrow for Albania. These lorries are destined to arrive in Vlora and surrounding villages.
Kosovo Security Forces have expressed their readiness to help, by sending its rescue troops to Albania in order to help the neighboring country in facing the situation.
Spokesman of Kosovo Security Forces, Ibrahim Shala said that this ministry has sent an official note to the Albanian Ministry of Defence and a reply is expected.
“We have no official request for aid by Albania. KSF has sent a letter of readiness to the Minister of Defence there and there’s no answer yet”, said Shala.
Situation in the south of Albania has become serious in the recent days as a result of the heavy rain which has covered in water many areas of the country. /ibna/
