Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci has presented today in front of the government the results of his meetings with senior officials in Brussels. He said that Kosovo is expected to apply for accession in the European Council in the first three months of next year.
For such thing, Thaci says that Kosovo has met the criteria for application, because 34 out of 47 countries of the Council of Europe have recognized the state of Kosovo.
“We’re hoping that in coordination with international partners, we will submit our application in the first quarter of next year. We want to believe that our application will not cause any unnecessary debate at the Council of Europe”, declared Thaci.
Thaci said that in his meeting with the Secretary General of the European Council, Thorbjorn Jagland and with the head of the EU diplomacy, Federica Mogherini, he discussed the liberalization of visas for the citizens of Kosovo.
He said that another topic of discussion was the creation of the Special Court and the participation in foreign conflicts.
“We also discussed the need of drafting the legislation for the Special Court and the participation in foreign conflicts”, said Thaci. /ibna/
