Kosnett: Corruption continues to be held back by corruption

US ambassador to Pristina, Philip Kosnett says that Kosovo continues to be held back by corruption, attacks on journalists, expulsion of foreign citizens without due process and violence against minorities.

Kosnett made these comments on Twitter following the publication of the US Department of State’s report on human rights.

On the part concerning Kosovo, the report pointed out: “refoulement; endemic government corruption; crimes involving violence or threats of violence against journalists; and attacks against members of ethnic minorities or other marginalized communities, including by security forces.”

The report also stresses the deportation of six Turkish nationals from Kosovo on “vague charges”. The deportation occurred in March and it sparked a public debate as to the way it was done. Meanwhile, the president, prime minister and speaker of parliament said that they did not have knowledge on the case. /ibna/
