Civil Society Consortium for Sustainable Development (KOSID) demands from the parliament of Kosovo to envisage all the points of the petition against the increase of the price of power supply.
Through this petition, last September the organizers and signatories demanded from the Parliament of Kosovo to abrogate the decision of the Energy Watchdog for the increase of price by 5,18%.
The petition also demanded the amendment of the Value Added Tax, where the 16% VAT rate on electricity would be removed.
On May 8, Minister of Finance, Avdullah Hoti declared from parliament that this institution would soon receive the bill on VAT, which would reduce VAT on electricity from 16% to 8%.
In a press conference, KOSID representatives expressed their concerns about the fact that this petition is not in the parliament’s order of the day for today’s session.
Kushtrim Puka from KOSID said that the petition must be envisaged with all of its points.
Parliament discussed this petition a week ago, but it was not the points of the petition that would be voted, but the points modified by the Petition Committee.
It’s still unclear if these points were voted or not, because 42 MPs voted in favor of them and four were against, while present in the parliament hall were 65 MPs. /ibna/
