Korean poet Ko Un is honored by writers in FYROM

The winner of the “Golden Crown” award in the international poetry festival “Poetry Nights of Struga”, the Korean poet, Ko Un, was made honorable member of the Association of Writers in FYR Macedonia.

During the ceremony which saw the presence of writers and other personalities of the country, the head of the Association of Writers, Vele Smilkevski declared that this title is given to the renowned South Korean poet, for his contribution in world literature and his peaceful mission.

Poet Ko Un said that he feels honored that his name will be part of the writers of this country. “Since I arrived in your country, I realized that this is a holy land full of life. I praise you for cultivating poetry and I’m here to make my acquaintance with all my colleagues”, declared Ko Un. According to him, this is an event to exchange experiences on poetry.

Other honorable members of the Association include Jose Emilio Paceko, Mongani Serote, Nancy Morehon, Fatos Arapi, Eduard, Sangvineti, etc. The South Korean poet was honored with the “Golden Crown” award as the best poet in the traditional festival of poetry “Poetry Nights of Struga” which was held last week in Struga. /ibna/
