The high level of corruption in Kosovo comes as a result of the failure of institutions to fight it in practice.

This lack of institutional efficiency derived by the lack of political will has generated institutional overlapping and a weak justice system. This is stated in the recent report of the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) which was presented today in a conference which saw the presence of institutions of Kosovo and opposition MPs.

Visar Kidaj of KDI said that these findings have found the support of many other actors from the country and the region in the regional conference of KDI which was held in February 2016.

“This report reflects the institutional incompetence to fight corruption, the political alternatives to address it and several references on the best option”, said Sutaj, the author of the report.

Meanwhile, executive director of KDI, Ismet Kryeziu declared that in all the findings and opinion polls, political leaders and public officials are ranked as the main perpetrators of corruption and other economic crimes.

On the other hand, Albulena Haxiu, Self Determination MP said that corruption has spread its roots in every institution. /balkaneu.com/
