Bulgarian Defence Minister Krasimir Karakachanov commented on the tension in the relations between Greece and Turkey during the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence.
Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov told the Parliamentary Defense Committee that if tensions rise between Athens and Ankara in the Aegean, Bulgaria will suffer first. The blow will be economic, the Deputy Prime Minister warned. Bulgaria has not taken clear military action. Our activation in one direction or another, knowing the history of relations in the Balkans, could only add tension, not help de-escalate”, Karakachanov said.
“Bulgaria’s position is that the disputed issues between our neighbours should be resolved through negotiations and dialogue and not through the use of threats and military force”, he said./ibna
