The chairman of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the academic, Vladko Kambovski declared today the need for an engagement of the European Union for the solution of the name dispute.
He issued this message on the occasion of the European Day-May 9, stressing that talks should be launched for the accession of the country in the EU and the facilitation of the process for the solution of the name dispute.
“The launch of talks for the accession of Macedonia in the EU, not only it would not complicate, but it would facilitate the overcoming of the problem of the name dispute, thus boosting mutual trust and by involving in it European institutions”, said Kambovski.
According to him, the name dispute is becoming an issue of political manipulation, something which goes against all rational bases for the solution to this problem.
Kambovski declared that the issue of the Macedonian identity, the language and the constitutional name cannot be an object of the talks.
“No government or other state institution has the legitimate right to discuss these issues. These cannot be an object of the referendum, law or whatever act of the state because they are natural rights”, said Kambovski. /ibna/
