President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga received today in a meeting the US secretary of state assistant, Mr. Hoyt Yee (photo) to talk about developments in Kosovo, normalization of relations with the Republic of Serbia in the framework of the talks taking place in Brussels and the fulfillment of the obligations of Kosovo toward the international community.

President Jahjaga said that the agreement reached in Brussels on the justice system has been seen as a positive thing and a step toward consolidating rule of law in the northern part of Kosovo, through a unique system of justice system for all of the country, but she said that the process of talks must be absolutely open and transparent for the citizens.

She said that Kosovo continues to be committed for the full normalization of relations with the Republic of Serbia, because this gives way to the European path for both countries and will speed up integrating processes.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo must be involved in the process of the liberalization of visas and to finalize the Stabilization and Association Agreement, as an important step for the citizens of the country and their perspective.

Jahjaga also briefed Mr. Yee on the latest developments in Kosovo and the phenomenon of the departure of the citizens of the country. She also informed him on her engagement to meet with the citizens and talk with them about their needs and the reasons of leaving the country. President Jahjaga said that the institutions of the country must do more in establishing the rule of law and for the economic development of the country in order to open new jobs.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is meeting its obligations toward the international community in the domain of the justice system, by informing Mr. Yee on the engagement of all institutions for the creation of the Special Tribunal.

She said that Kosovo must be involved in all international mechanisms especially the security ones, stressing the need  of building contractual relations with NATO and its involvement in the Peace Partnership. President Jahjaga said that this is an important moment for the transformation of Kosovo Security Forces into Kosovo Armed Forces and thanked the government of USA for the support given to Kosovo in this process.

On his part, Mr. Hoyt Yee congratulated President Jahjaga for her leadership and for facilitating the talks between political parties, which led to the solution of the institutional crisis and the consolidation of the institutions of Kosovo. Mr. Yee praised the resumption of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and the endorsement of the agreement between the two PMs in Brussels and said that this process must continue.
