Macedonian president, George Ivanov has stressed that the prompt reaction in relation to the refugee crisis aimed at preserving stability in the country, but also stability in Europe. Ivanov said this in his address before the UN Parliamentary Assembly.
“I am proud that as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, along with security agencies, we have reacted on time to preserve stability”, Ivanov said.
According to him, in its part to be integrated in the European Community, FYROM has faced many obstacles. “Macedonian citizens were deprived of the ability for self identification and as a result of this, our NATO and EU path are blocked even to this day”, Ivanov said.
Ivanov declared that the EU and NATO’s lack of determination to unblock the integration of the country has been the main cause of the domestic political crisis that culminated this year.
Speaking on the solution of the name dispute, Ivanov said that it must be demanded in the framework of the Interim Agreement, UN Resolutions and by respecting the decision of the International Court of Justice.
