President of FYROM, George Ivanov continues to impose conditions on the social democrat leader, Zoran Zaev. The President’s office says that Ivanov has requested from the social democrat leader, Zoran Zaev to keep his promise as far as preserving the unity of the state is concerned.
“President Ivanov maintains that neither the so called Tirana Platform nor any other document or act which is against the Constitution of the Republic of Macedonia, cannot act as a condition for the formation of the new government of the Republic of Macedonia. President of Macedonia will continue to act in compliance with the Constitution”, the President said.
The new speaker of Parliament, Talat Xhaferi says that President Ivanov will reflect in a positive way and will mandate the leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev to form the new government of the country.
“I believe that he will reflect and that he will not wait until the end of the ten day period to give the mandate”, Xhaferi said. According to him, if Ivanov doesn’t give the mandate, then the new majority in Parliament will elect the new government.
Meanwhile, VMRO-DPMNE says that the President is defending the state’s interests.
“Every official voted by the people must react like Ivanov has reacted. As a political party, we expect every elected official in Macedonia to act in compliance with the laws of Macedonia and above all, protect all the state interests of Macedonia”, says VMRO-DPMNE lawmaker, Zoran Iliovski.
Ivanov has time until the end of next week to give Zaev the mandate to form a government, after he managed to secure the necessary votes in parliament through Albanian parties. /balkaneu.com/
