Police officers of BiH State investigation and protection agency (SIPA) and other police agencies stormed the village of Gornja Maoca, after the picture of an ISIs flag on one of the houses was broadcasted on Federation BiH TV station.
The picture was broadcasted on Thursday evening and the flag was visible on one house in the village, inhabited by radical Islamists. This place has been for a long time under observation of anti terrorist agencies, because many of its inhabitants went to Syria to fight on the ISIS side. The photo of the flag was taken several days ago.
As it was announced from SIPA, police officers didn’t find the flag, but continue investigative activities in the village in order to find those who support ISIS and have their insignia. But, officers did find several graffiti on the walls that support this terrorist organisation. One of the inscriptions in the village are the words of Abu Omar al Baghdadi, ISIS leader, and translates as: “Islamic state will survive”.
This incident happened just a few days after a similar incident in Sarajevo, where three ISIS supporters came in mosque and verbally attacked the imam during his speech after pray. One of them showed a T-shirt with the insignia of ISIS, but other believers asked them to leave the mosque. The leader of this group, allegedly, recently came back from the war in Syria.
The appearance of the flag in Gornja Maoca disturbed the inhabitants of other villages which are close to this and whose villagers doesn’t support the radical Islamists. In addition, since Gornja Maoca is in BiH Federation but near the entity border with RS, and Serbs in this area are frightened. RS Minister of interior, Dragan Lukac, said to the media in Banja Luka that he expect from SIPA to make arrests, find and prosecute those responsible, and place them under custody. He reminded that most radical Islamists and radical groups have supporters in this village.
“One of these bases surely is Gornja Maoca. We had the opportunity to see the displayed flag of ‘Islamic State’ there. Recently, we were able to see what is being done in the world under this flag, and I am referring especially to the captured Jordanian air force pilot being burned alive, which is a monstrous act”, Lukac emphasised.
