The new chief prosecutor of the Special Tribunal on Kosovo, David Schwendiman has delivered today his first press conference after being appointed in this post.
In front of journalists in the Hague, Schwendiman pledged that he will investigate the claims for traffic of organs in Kosovo during the war, without any fear.
“I’m aware of the political sensitivity of what I am doing, but I will only base my work on facts and the law”, he said.
Schwendiman didn’t say anything on the witnesses and the methods of witness protection in these trials.
“My job is to protect witnesses once they supply credible information”, he added.
The new chief prosecutor is investigating the claims of a Council of Europe report, according to which, high KLA officials, including president Hashim Thaci, have dealt in the traffic of organs. Thaci has constantly denied these allegations. /balkaneu.com/
