The vice speaker of the European Parliament, Ulrike Lunacek says that Kosovo is facing many problems which are also a consequence of the mistakes of the international community.

She says that the European Union must offer a clear perspective for the Republic of Kosovo.

“There must be courage for a rapid liberalization of visas, efficient strategies for EU enlargement, intensive dialogue with the five other EU members, which have not recognized Kosovo and a new smart strategy for migration”, said Lunacek.

Lunacek also criticizes the international community for not accepting Kosovo in relevant international institutions.

“Three years ago, Rona Nishliu could not represent Kosovo in the Eurosong, but represented Albania and came out fifth; Majlinda Kelmendi, a judo fighter, was not able to participate in Olympic Games in London and Kosovo’s football team can only play friendly matches”, she says.

Lunacek also says that the situation with the fight against corruption and organized crime is the same and Kosovo cannot become member of Europol and Interpol until seven years after independence.

She also says that Kosovo should have become a UN member up until now, given that it has been recognized by 110 countries. /ibna/
