Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri said today that the institution that he leads has the necessary will to meet the criteria set by EU for the integration of the country, criteria which relate to the fight against corruption and organized crime.

In a declaration for the press after the meeting with EU ambassador, Ettore Sequi, Tahiri said that the structures of the Interior Ministry will closely work with the General Attorney’s office for the fight against corruption and organized crime.

“For as long that we consider this as a precondition in the fight against crime, terrorism and corruption, it’s important to have good institutional collaboration in our path”, said Tahiri.

On his part, EU ambassador said that he has received assurances from the minister for the continuation of reforms. “We had an excellent meeting and discussed many topics. The minister informed me on a number of reforms that he wishes to implement. They are a number of reforms which are impressive and I believe that they will make State Police more efficient. Ministry of Interior plays a critical role as far as a number of priorities for EU integration are concerned. Amongst them is the fight against organized crime and corruption. We also discussed about the collaboration between institutions which play an important role in the rule of law”, declared ambassador Sequi. /ibna/
