The process of European integration in Albania is supported by 90% of the population. All serious political forces in the country, without exemption, have expressed their clear support for it.
Said during this time, when the Union is going through an extraordinary challenge following BREXIT, seems strange for the ears not only of euro skeptics, but also many supporters of the EU who are not clear about the future of the European Union.
President of Albania, Bujar Nishani was in Vienna today where he participated in the official opening of the Crans Montana Forum, which this year is held in Vienna, under the auspices of the Austrian President, Heinz Fischer.
In the opening ceremony, Nishani delivered a speech where he focused on the latest developments in Europe and Albania’s European perspective and that of the Western Balkans.
He said that the country’s European integration process, in spite of the latest developments in Europe, continues to be supported massively by citizens and Albanian political forces, as this process implies standards, development and wellbeing for Albanians.
Meanwhile he also explained what EU integration means for Albania: “For Albanians, EU integration process means standards, development and wellbeing. Therefore, it remains not only a dream, but the biggest strategic objective of the country and the only alternative for its development”.
The President said that it is important for the EU, its institutions and member countries not to neglect the process of integration for the Western Balkan countries in the Union. “The investment made for peace, reconciliation, stability and development of this region must be taken forward”, said the head of the Albanian state. /balkaneu.com/
