Insolvencies of individuals in Slovenia increased fivefold

The number of insolvencies of individuals in Slovenia during the period January-July 2014 increased by fivefold, or 2,249, compared with 450 in the corresponding period of 2013, according to a statement from the relevant authority of the country.

Based on the current trend, the Supreme Court held that 2014 will close with a total number of insolvencies of individuals that will exceed 3,855 cases.

In 2008, when the relevant legislation took effect, 98 individuals declared bankruptcy, in 2011, 1124 declared bankruptcy, while in 2013, 879 persons filed for bankruptcy.

According to STA news agency, facing the risk of bankruptcy are individuals from the fields of local government, media, and retail consumption.
