President of FYROM, George Ivanov declared today that the United Nations must not be indifferent toward the violation of human rights and human dignity.

He said this in an address delivered before the UN’s Human Rights Council in Geneva.

“United Nations cannot be indifferent toward the violation of human rights and dignity. The world needs the Council which will act through preventive measures, not only with reactions, but stances that will bear serious consequences on the states that do not respect them”, declared president Ivanov.

According to him, in the case of his country, the UN resolution and the ruling of the International Court of Justice are being violated.

“Today, while my country is a member of the Human Rights Council, my fellow countrymen are being deprived of their identity and language. They’re being deprived of the same Macedonian language that I’m addressing you in. These two rights are integral to the personality of people and freedom of speech. Nobody compromises over these rights”, Ivanov says. /ibna/
