India, arrest warrant for Subrata Roj who announced big investments in FYR Macedonia

Supreme Court in India has remanded into custody the multi-millionaire owner of “Sahara” company, who has announced big investments in FYR Macedonia, Subrata Roj.

Subrata Roj (photo) is accused of fraud and authorities in New Dehli demand him to return 4 billion USD to hundreds of small companies that have been deceived.

Ram Jetmalani, Roj’s defense attorney says that his client cannot appear in Court, as he’s watching over his sick mother. The attorney has demanded more time for Roj to appear in court.

Three directors of this company have appeared in court.

Supreme Court has ordered Roj to appear in court on March 2 and has ordered for him to be remanded in custody, without the right to bail.

The judge of the case, Radakrishnan says that authorities do not have faith on “Sahara” company.

The court wants Roj to explain why the small companies are not receiving their money back. Recently, Subrata Roj has also established ties with FYR Macedonia. Besides the project for the construction of the giant monument of Mother Teresa in Skopje, he has also announced the construction of a tourist resort in Lubanishta, in Struga and a 200 million Euro investment in the “Xhumajlija” agriplant./ibna/
